Abstract

The most effective attractive force measuring method of a dental magnetic attachment is considered to be the combination of biaxial jig devised in our department and high-performance tension testing machine, which serves as a model for the ISO standard. Although a biaxial jig allows high-accuracy measurement, it lacks versatility due to a complex structure and high cost.
The Japanese Society of Magnetic Applications in Dentistry developed an improved jig to improve problems of a biaxial jig. An improved jig was simplified from biaxial to uniaxial, and lowered the cost to increase versatility. Since the existing attractive force measuring system sets a jig to the high-performance tension testing machine, high versatility and performance are required not only for a jig but also for a tension testing machine.
Considering these problems, we developed a simplified attractive force measuring machine including both jig and tension testing machine, and measurement accuracy was tested. The result showed availability of the developed machine as an attractive force measurement device.
