@In unilateral extension partial denture treatment situations, a unilateral design is often employed to meet patientsf aesthetic expectations and comfort. When a unilateral partial denture design is selected, minimizing a cantilever effect is the key to the success of the treatment. We have applied splinting abutments, extracoronal attachments, bracing arms and interlocking attachments to the denture design to reduce the cantilever effect. However, there is no solid evidence to support these designs, and the success of the treatment is determined by the skill and experience of a practitioner.
@The aim of the present study was to compare the influence of different denture designs such as extracoronal attachments and Akers clasps on the abutments and the surrounding tissues and to formulate a suitable unilateral denture designs.
