Abstract
During long-term use of a magnetic overdenture often
requires repair of the resin denture base on the coping due to fracture. Which
may result in thin denture base surrounding the magnetic assembly, and the
magnetic assembly works as a fulcrum or supporting point. Therefore, we evaluate
the denture base strength influence of its thickness surrounding magnetic
assembly.
The specimens made of heat curing resin which were two types
of coping model (cone and spherical) were evaluated. Then each of coping models
were institute its thickness to 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5 mm. The bending strength of
three and four point bending of the specimens were measured at a crosshead speed
of 5 mm/min in a universal testing machine.
There were significant difference in the thickness of
specimens and there were not significant deference in the coping shape.
This
result indicates that improvement of the denture base need resin thickness
surrounding magnetic assembly.
